Durand Charm and Retired Senior Volunteer Program are partnering together to put your volunteer hours to work Durand and Winnebago County.
RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) connects volunteers 55 years and older with service opportunities in their communities based on their skills and availability. RSVP is part of the Senior Corps, which, in turn, is a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service, an independent federal agency that promotes community service.
This program has 800 volunteers in Winnebago and Boone counties, and works with 90 nonprofit organizations, including Durand Charm. RSVP/Boone and Winnebago County serves in four of the Corporation for National Community and Services Focus areas:
- Healthy Futures (health education)
- Disaster Preparedness
- Veterans and Military Families
Do you take your neighbor to their doctor’s appointments? Would you like to organize activities for veterans and their families? Are you working on planting a community garden? All those hours count and can be converted to dollars to support programs and organizations in Winnebago County.
All RSVP volunteers will be covered by a secondary accident and personal liability insurance, plus a small death benefit. If something happens while performing volunteer duties. The coverage is automatic and free of cost as long as the volunteer is active and an enrolled member of RSVP.
