This year, HomeStart was awarded funding from the Illinois Housing and Development Trust Fund to complete Single Family Rehab projects throughout Winnebago and Boone Counties (excluding Rockford). Our hope is to reach as many families and individuals as possible to ensure the funding is accessible to those who qualify and who need it most.
They are accepting interested parties through Friday, June 28th for the first wave of applicants. If needed, they will have a second wave of applicants as well.
HomeStart has funding available for homeowners of Boone and Winnebago County (excluding City of Rockford) through the Illinois Housing Authority Trust Fund for the Single Family Rehab Program with Roof Only Option.
With Roof Only Option, eligible homeowners may address only the roof on their home if no other health and safety issues are present. The program offers Assistance to mitigate roof damage and deterioration so the property is insurable. Eligible homeowners may receive up to $16,500 in assistance as a three-year forgivable loan.
The Single Family Rehabilitation program will assist income eligible homeowners to repair their homes and remove health and safety hazards by replacing costly maintenance items. Eligible homeowners may receive up to $45,000 in assistance as a five-year forgivable loan.
To qualify for this program, households must have an annual income equal to or less than the following Income Guidelines:
